Koga’s Ditto is one of the strangest and most memorable vintage Japanese Ditto cards. The Japanese version, キョウのメタモン, was released in 1999, and the same Ken Sugimori artwork later appeared in the English Gym Challenge set.

But there is something especially fun about the artwork: Ditto is almost completely filling the frame, while Koga is barely visible behind it. 👀

Japanese Koga’s Ditto
The Japanese version is キョウのメタモン and comes from the 1999 expansion Challenge from the Darkness. It is card 72/98, a Rare Holo with 40 HP, and was illustrated by Ken Sugimori.
The card’s most unusual feature is its Giant Growth attack. If the coin flip is heads, Ditto’s maximum HP increases from 40 to 80 and Pound’s base damage increases from 10 to 30. The effect ends when Ditto is benched.
The English Version
The same artwork was released in English as Koga’s Ditto #10/132 in Gym Challenge, which was released in October 2000.

This makes Koga’s Ditto a great card for collectors who enjoy matching Japanese and English vintage cards. The artwork, illustrator, HP, and core card mechanics remain essentially the same, while the set numbering and language are different.
How Much Is Koga’s Ditto Worth?
The Japanese version currently tends to sell around $50 and up, depending heavily on condition. Recent market data places the English Unlimited version around $70, while 1st Edition copies can command around $100 or more.
Graded copies can be considerably more expensive. For example, 1st Edition PSA 10 examples have reached well above the raw-card market, so condition and edition are important when comparing prices.
